I wasted over $300 and I would like a refund do to the fact that it was the book that refered me. I should sue you because I got food poisoning because of you reccommendation. I hope that you remove this book from the shelves and burn them. No one with good sense would read it.

Frommer's Wonderful Weekends From New York City
Published in Paperback by John Wiley & Sons (April, 1999)
Average review score:

Updated in 1999 !We have been using Marilyn Wood's Wonderful Weekends Copyright 1984, 1987 and enjoyed it very, very much. Right from the first trip, we knew we had a winner. The paperback is dog earred, paperclipped, underlined in red and there are pencil and ink notes in all the margins. It is a truly wonderful book but needed updating.
We purchased the "All New Fourth Edition!" of Wonderful Weekends thinking it would have the best of the previous edition, plus new places to explore minus the places that are no longer there.
Not so! Several of the areas that we looked up included restaurants that have not been there in 2 or 3 years. One of the B&B's has had new owners for years and the listing shows the old owners' story and names.
We will stick with our original 1984-l987 version and use the new one for backup with each trip. Hopefully, there will be some New information in this Fourth Edition.
This was a lesson to me that when I look for updates for books of this type, it would be a good idea to find out the date of the update before making a purchase.

Graveyard Shift: New York City Metropolitan Area Cemeteries
Published in Paperback by Ancestry Publishing (27 May, 1999)
Average review score:

I sent it back.Amazon has a very good, reliable return system. I needed it for this book. It is as dry as bones! This book is only for people who actually want to see graves in New York City and who are actually there. There are no illustrations or descriptions at all.

New York
Published in Hardcover by Parkstone Press (01 August, 1999)
Average review score:

Aficionados of New York beware!I hope I never come across another book containing as many errors as this one. This is basically a picture book with brief passages of text (which I haven't read) in each section. Not only are the picture captions irritatingly uninformative, there are numerous glaring mistakes: for example "Williamsburg Bridge" pertaining to a photo of the George Washington Bridge; "Empire State Building" for separate photos of the Woolworth Building, the Chrysler Building and a view of the Woolworth, Municipal and US Courthouse Buildings (looking north!); "Sculptures on Fifth Avenue in Midtown" referring to photos of the Group of Trees in Chase Manhattan Plaza, the Noguchi Cube at 140 Broadway and the Non-Violence gun at the United Nations; "Colourful facade in Harlem" is in fact a gallery in Soho; "Parade on 5th Avenue" for a photo that clearly contains signs indicating that it was taken at the intersection of Broadway and West 52nd Street. There are others, but I think you get the idea. The one star is for some nice photos, although several of the larger ones are out of focus. Shame on the British publishers for this incompetent effort.

New York City Hipster's Journal: I Am a Not a Hipster
Published in Paperback by On Your Own Publications (February, 2003)
Average review score:

This book is pretty bad. This book is basically a cheap attempt to capitalize off the success of things like the Hipster Handbook, which was a terrible book in its own right. You could buy this if you want, or you could get a dog to eat your face off. It's up to you, either would probably be as fun.

Most obvious was in regards to a covered bridge in Pennsylvania I used to live next to. Armed only with this book, no one will ever find it. That's because it's about two miles west of it's listed location on a completely different road. Not to mention there are no signs to aide lost tourists.
Then there's the mention that the Appalachian trail runs through the Catskills in New York "from Pennsylvania to Vermont". While anyone with an atlas can see it goes nowhere near the Catskills on its way from New Jersey to Connecticut. Did these people even visit these sites in person?
I wish I had read more of this book before I bought it and wasted my money.
